As with all holistic treatments, Veterinary consent is asked for, as The Veterinary Surgery Act of 1966 prohibits anyone other than a qualified Veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of ailments or giving advice. 

I have found, like most Doctors nowadays, Vets are happy for an alternative treatment to be used.
